event details

Event Location

Our event is located in the Event Center at the Fontana Village Resort, positioned right beside the Quill’s Canteen Grill and across from the Putt-Putt Golf Course. You will not miss us with our 20 foot Rennsport Dragon Rally banner!

This Event Center seats 400 people, so that is the capacity of our events. Depending on single versus couple registrations, this usually works out to being 200-250 Porsches registered. The Event Center is 9,000 sq ft, so it can easily accommodate our attendees, sponsors and vendors.

Registration Check-in

We will open our Registration Check-In the Thursday before our weekend at the Event Center at the Fontana Village Resort. Friday will be a full day of driving and we start our Driver Meeting first-thing Friday morning, so we advise arriving on Thursday. We will also have our check-in open Friday and Saturday mornings for those arriving late.

Here you will receive your Event Maps. Event Shirts, Swag Bags, etc.

Driver Meetings

These events are three full days of driving, so we start each day with a mandatory Driver Meeting. Here we will go over our day’s itinerary, safety rules, and what to expect during our daily drive. Our Driver Meetings are very thorough and what separates our events from others. This event is lead by area locals that know these roads and region better than just about anyone. This enables us to provide crucial information to have you as prepared as possible so you have the best experience as possible on the greatest roads in America.

The Drives

These events are all about the drives! Each event is packed with three full days and 600+ miles of driving the greatest roads that America has to offer. The whole Smoky Mountain region is covered in amazing roads, so we change our driving routes for each event to keep things interesting.

We will drive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, so be prepared! Each day will provide a full day of driving with a Driver Meeting to start the day. Friday and Saturday will be over 200 miles and our Sunday is usually a little shorter.

This event is ran by locals that grew up on these mountain roads, so our events can provide drives like no others can. The event organizers also own a store just down from the Tail of the Dragon, the 129 Hub, so their knowledge of the area is unrivaled. This expertise on these epic roads is what makes the Rennsport Dragon Rally® the greatest Porsche driving event in America!

Drive Groups

We have a drive group for everyone, regardless of your skill or experience level! We have 5 different pace options, and you will receive a Registration Confirmation email with a description of those groups, which you will reply with your selection. We will have anywhere from 15-20 different drive groups for our large events, so we can keep the cars as close to 10 Porsches per group as possible. We want the drive groups to be as small as possible to enhance the driving experience. Our drive groups split up and go different routes, so even though the event is large, the roads will not be congested. If you have the need or wish to switch drive groups during the event, we are happy to accommodate that.

Technical Support by Wolfpen Automotive.

We have attendees travel from all over North America to drive with us, so we want you to feel comfortable pushing your Porsche for three days. Wolfpen of Roswell, Georgia is the premier independent shop in the Atlanta area and are here to support your Porsche should the need arise. The Wolfpen staff will be driving along in various groups to be available if you have an issue. At the end of the day, Wolfpen will be available to answer your questions or concerns about your Porsche, run diagnostics, or help out however they can.

Social Events

We will have some social events during our three-day weekend. We conclude our Friday drive with a Welcome Dinner at the Event Center and Saturday evening we will always have something special planned.

Vendor Displays

The Event Hall at the Fontana Village Resort is 9,000 sq ft and large enough to seat 400 people, plus plenty of room for our sponsors and venders to set up their displays. This area is open for our attendees to browse and speak with the amazing supporters of our event during our Thursday Registration Check-In, Friday evening Welcome Dinner, and before driver meetings each morning. This is a great way to connect with your favorite Porsche brands and speak with the experts directly.

Media Coverage

We have several photographers and cinematographers at our events to capture our weekend. From epic drone footage of us taking over the Fontana Dam, to photographers riding along our routes, we always end up with breathtaking shots of our Porsches in the Great Smoky Mountains.

Dam Photoshoot

We take over the Fontana Dam for an epic photoshoot during our events. With this many Porsches we have made it into a rolling parade of 200+ Porsches, completely covering the dam.

At 480 ft, the equivalent of a 50-story skyscraper, the Fontana Dam is the tallest dam east of the Rockies. It is located on the Little Tennessee River and makes for some unforgettable views.

Fuel Stops

We make several fuel stops during our drives and never go over 100 miles between stops. This is not only an opportunity for a restroom break, snacks and gas, but an awesome time to catch up and socialize. We have had attendees say our gas stops were some of their best memories from the trip. It is like a rolling Cars and Coffee when we bring our cars through some of these small towns and take over their gas stations. This is a great time to meet like-minded Porsche enthusiasts, talk about the drive and discuss the insane roads you just completed.

Car Wash

We will have professional car detailers of Detail Driven on hand to offer quick washes after our drives. After 200+ miles of mountain driving, our Porsches are covered in bug splatters and brake dust. This is not included in your registration, so make sure to bring some cash. You will need to contact Chris, the owner of Detail Driven, to book your wash for the event.

If you choose to wash your car yourself, the Fontana Village Resort has a car wash area on their property.
